Turkey's defense exports are projected to reach $10.05 billion by 2025, with naval platforms playing a key role in international markets.
Turkey's defense and aerospace industry is poised for significant export success, with projections indicating a reach of $10.05 billion by 2025. Naval platforms and military ship projects are taking center stage in this growth.
During the announcement of foreign trade data in Istanbul, Haluk Görgün highlighted that the expansion of the defense industry encompasses more than just air and land systems, underscoring the strategic importance of maritime projects in export figures.
In 2025, the export of military ships to Portugal and the contract signed with Romania for Offshore Patrol Vessels exemplify the international competitiveness of Turkish shipyards and the maritime defense sector. These initiatives reinforce Turkey's status as a reliable supplier of naval platforms to NATO and European Union countries.
Görgün noted that approximately 56% of defense exports are directed towards Europe, NATO countries, and the USA, with the share of naval platforms in these markets increasing annually. Offshore patrol vessels, military logistics support ships, and specialized maritime vehicles are expected to gain further prominence in export categories in the near future.
He also mentioned that a significant portion of the new contracts, valued at $17.8 billion and signed in the defense sector in 2025, includes naval platforms. With accelerated deliveries anticipated in 2026, the presence of Turkish military ships and maritime defense systems in the global market is set to expand further.
