MSC won't book backhaul Europe-Asia cargo, blames lack of capacity GENEVA's Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC), the second biggest container carrier in the world, has announced the repeat of its refusal to book Europe-Asia cargo until the first week in April, citing a lack of capacity.

"These measures have been taken in order to allow the cargo booked in time to receive the best attention and required level of service especially in view of the well-known and widely announced limited availability of space and equipment during the coming weeks," said a company statement.

This was a strategy used by the carrier last year to reduce supply to help back rates, commented London's Containerisation International.
