    MSC boxship collided with Russian freighter off Skagen

    In the night of Feb 2, 2011, shortly after midnight the "MSC Eyra", while sailing from Helsinki to Antwerp, was in collision with the "Baltiyskiy-109", around 10 miles northwest of Skagen.

    In the night of Feb 2, 2011, shortly after midnight the "MSC Eyra", while sailing from Helsinki to Antwerp, was in collision with the "Baltiyskiy-109", around 10 miles northwest of Skagen. Nio injuries, no oil spill reported. The "MSC Eyra" suffered a few scratches and was permitted to continue the voyage by the Danish authorities, whereas the "Baltiskiy-109", which had departed 5 hours before from Frederikshavn bound to Bilbao, was damaged above the waterline and was ordered to anchor in Ålbæk Bay. The anti pollution vessel "Mette Miljø" was sent to the site and was monitoring the "Baltiyskiy-109".
