MSC alters Europe-Med service, adds Beirut and Naples skips Limassol

THE Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is to add Beirut and Naples port calls while ending service to Limassol on its Levante Express loop from April 27.

The new rotation will be Felixstowe, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Valencia, Beirut, Alexandria, Mersin, Iskenderun, Naples, La Spezia and back to Felixstowe.

Scheduled feeder connections via Beirut will be offered to the Syrian ports of Lattakia and Tartous, reported American Shipper.

The Levant Express deploys five vessels with an average capacity of 6,911 TEU and a total rotation time of 36 days round, according to BlueWater Reporting.

According to their online scheduling tools, Zim will switch the NE3 service over to the Aegean Service/EEX2 at the end of April, on which Hapag-Lloyd purchases slots. However, WEC will continue to purchase slots on the revised Levante Express later this month.
