Mariners on Stage: A Musical Feast from the Giants of the Industry and an Unforgettable Repertoire
The 'Mariners Choir,' established under the leadership of Metin Kalkavan, former President of the İMEAK Chamber of Shipping (DTO) and Chairman of the Executive Board of TURKON Holding, welcomes spring with a music-filled evening. The choir, which continues its activities within the Çamlıca Music Association and consists of prominent figures from the industry, is preparing to meet music lovers on the evening of April 7, 2026.
The concert will take place at 19:00 in the Boğaziçi Hall of the Bağlarbaşı Congress and Culture Center, hosted by Üsküdar Municipality, and attendance will be completely free.
Maritime and Art on the Same Stage
The choir, featuring individuals who blend their professionalism in the maritime sector with art, will perform selected works of Turkish Art Music under the direction of Conductor Ayhan Haksal. The evening will be presented by Oya Haksal.

The Traditional Concerts of the Mariners Choir
Having made a significant impact in the maritime community with its first concert in 2019, the choir has since established its stage performances as a tradition. The choir members, who do not fall short of professional artists, have previously made unforgettable contributions to events:
February 9, 2024: In collaboration with the Çamlıca Music Association, the choir performed at the Bağlarbaşı Culture Center during the '100th Anniversary Concert of the Republic,' singing songs loved by Atatürk and receiving great applause from the audience.
January 18, 2025: The magnificent 'New Year Concert' held at the Rıdvan Kartal Conference Hall of Piri Reis University provided unforgettable moments for art lovers.
October 12, 2025: Once again hosted by Piri Reis University, a lively and well-attended recital was held under the theme 'The Voice of the Sea, On Stage with Music.'
This free musical feast, which will bring together the maritime community and offer art lovers an unforgettable evening filled with melodies, invites all Istanbul residents to join.
