Lufthansa Cargo reported a remarkable range of special shipments in 2025, underscoring its critical role in complex global logistics, according to London's Air Cargo Week.
The carrier successfully transported over 1,000 aircraft engines worldwide, requiring meticulous planning and specialized equipment. Additionally, it moved semiconductor manufacturing machines and a rare BMW classic car under strict monitoring and handling protocols.
Animal transport was a significant focus, with 3,500 horses, 12,000 pets, 80 million ornamental fish, and 200 zoo animals safely relocated. Conservation initiatives included returning critically endangered Vietnamese crocodile-tailed lizards to their native habitat and deploying trained sniffer dogs to South Africa to assist anti-poaching units.
In the medical sector, Lufthansa Cargo collaborated with the Lions World Vision Institute to deliver approximately 10,000 corneal tissue transplants, restoring sight to patients globally. These shipments were prioritized as time-sensitive cargo, featuring live tracking and expedited handling.
The company emphasized that the breadth of its 2025 operations reflects its commitment to supporting global supply chains with speed, quality, and safety. Lufthansa Cargo plans to continue investing in infrastructure and expertise to meet the growing demands of complex logistics.
