THE Port of Long Beach CEO Jon Slangerup, who took the job in June 2014, has quit, having accepted the post of chairman and CEO of a leading, but undisclosed, aviation technology company from October 31.
Long Beach CEO Jon Slangerup quits after 2 years to lead aviation tech firm THE Port of Long Beach CEO Jon Slangerup, who took the job in June 2014, has quit, having accepted the post of chairman and CEO of a leading, but undisclosed, aviation technology company from October 31. "I wish to thank the board of Harbour Commissioners for the opportunity I've had to lead the Port of Long Beach and our exceptional team of managers and professionals," he said. "The experience of helping guide the port through our industry's swiftly changing and often uncharted waters has been both an exciting challenge and a great honour. "I leave my post content in the knowledge that the port's greatest years lie ahead," he said. Said Harbour Commissioners president Lori Ann Guzman: "Jon has brought tremendous leadership, creativity and executive experience to the port. His innovative vision and ability to lead in times of change and growth have made a marked difference." In July 2015, the port set the strongest cargo record in more than a century of operations and the strongest performance since the Great Recession. Mr Slangerup has also overseen ongoing progress on the port's US$4 billion, 10-year capital improvement plan, including the replacement of the Gerald Desmond Bridge and the development of the innovative Middle Harbour terminal.
