    Grounding off Lisbon

    In the afternoon of Jan 22, 2017, the "Levant Horizon" ran aground in the estuary of the Tagus River near the Fort of S. Lourenço do Bugio in front of Oeiras. The ship got stuck around 2 p.m. when it was leaving the port of Lisbon. Two tugs were called to refloat the unloaded ship and its crew of 14, among them Filipinos and some Portuguese. The grounding occurred when the ship passad a fairway buoys ahead of Paço de Arcos limiting the navigation area in and out of the Lisbon Bar on the wrong side. After the ship was refloated about five hours after the grounding, it returned to Lisbon and berthed at the Alcantara Cruise Terminal on Jan 22 at 9 p.m. Portuguese report with photos: www.dn.pt/socieda...     (24 min ago, by Timsen )
