LATAM Cargo Brazil has transported two bears from Fortaleza to Sao Paulo, where they will be taken to a wildlife sanctuary

LATAM Cargo Brazil has transported two bears from Fortaleza to Sao Paulo, where they will be taken to a wildlife sanctuary. The bears previously lived in a zoo in Ceara, Brazil. The animals were transported in partnership with the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama) and the Fortaleza State Environmental Superintendence (SEMACE), reported AJOT.

The animals were flown in purpose-built transport containers for loading into the cargo hold of a Boeing 767-300 aircraft, which weighed a total of 1.3 tonnes when loaded with both bears. The loading of the bears was supervised by veterinarians and animal protection experts.

Preparation of the aircraft and loading began six hours in advance of the flight's departure time and involved 20 LATAM Cargo coworkers to ensure the well-being of the animals and that all safety measures were in place.

The bears were rescued from a circus and will now be taken care of by the Rancho dos Gnomos Ecological Sanctuary Association (ASERG), which looks after animals that have been held in captivity and/or been victims of abuse.
