No other port in the Western Hemisphere has surpassed the 1 million container mark in a single month. This is the third time Los Angeles has achieved this milestone, officials said.
Strong import demand drove volumes as retailers and manufacturers advanced shipments amid evolving trade policy, rising fuel costs, and global supply chain uncertainty. Businesses are moving cargo when conditions are favorable rather than following traditional seasonal patterns, the port said.
Port Executive Director Gene Seroka stated that crossing the 1 million container mark for the third time and closing the fiscal year with more than 10.4 million TEU were remarkable accomplishments. He credited the consistency of the port and its workforce.
Loaded imports in June totaled 530,558 TEU, up 13 percent from last year, making it the port's third-highest import month on record. Loaded exports remained unchanged at 126,365 TEU, while empty containers rose 17 percent to 345,811.
In the first six months of 2026, the port processed 5,122,603 TEU, which is 3 percent above the same period last year. Pacific Harbor Line continues to serve Los Angeles and Long Beach, linking the ports to the national rail network.
