Turkish Flagged Ships Continue Strong Performance in International Inspections

ISTANBUL, June 2026 – Turkish flagged ships have maintained their positive performance in inspections conducted under international port state control regimes. According to June 2026 data, the Turkish flag has retained its position on the White List in the Flag State performance evaluations of both the Paris and Tokyo Memoranda.

Under the Paris Memorandum (Paris MoU), 102 inspections were conducted on Turkish flagged ships in the first half of 2026, resulting in 4 detentions. Nevertheless, the Turkish flag continues to be among the high-standard flags in the international arena.

According to data from the Black Sea Memorandum (Black Sea MoU), as of the end of June 2026, there was only 1 detention recorded out of 52 inspections.

Trust in the Turkish Flag in International Inspections Confirmed

A remarkable picture emerged for Turkish flagged ships in the Tokyo Memorandum region. In the first six months of the year, 7 inspections were conducted without any detentions. The Turkish flag was also included in the White List of the performance table of the Tokyo Memorandum.

In the Mediterranean Memorandum (Mediterranean MoU), 46 inspections were conducted in the first half of 2026, resulting in 1 detention.

On the other hand, it was reported that there were no detentions during inspections conducted by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) on Turkish flagged ships between June 1-24, 2026.

The overall low detention rates maintained during the inspections under the Paris, Tokyo, Black Sea, and Mediterranean memoranda, as well as the USCG, demonstrate the Turkish maritime sector's compliance with international safety and quality standards. Additionally, while a limited number of detentions were observed in the Paris, Black Sea, and Mediterranean regions in the first half of the year, the absence of detentions in the Tokyo MoU and USCG inspections is noteworthy.
