Jardine Shipping Services exceeds 3,000 port calls in China in 2012
FOR the third year in a row, Jardine Shipping Services (JSS), a member of the Jardine Matheson Group, managed more than 3,000 port calls in China last year due to the combined efforts of the company and Jardine United International Agencies Ltd JUNISA), a joint venture of JSS and Shenzhen United International Shipping Agency Co (SUNISCO).
Sixty per cent of the port calls fell in the bulk category, followed by 30 per cent in tankers. The company entered the China market early 1970s and today its operations cover virtually all open ports in China. Its Shanghai representative office operates as a hub contact for China port agency services to further enhance customer efficiency.
JSS's experience and well established network in northern, central and southern China has led to a further increase in the number of vessels it successfully handled. With JSS's professional and value-added services, and its high global standards in areas such as quality management, code of conduct, and health, security, safety and environment, it managed to further expand its client base and geographic reach.
The company says the China port agency business will continue to expand in the coming years as the mainland's economy is expected to grown at 7.5 per cent GDP each year. Raw materials and petroleum products are major areas of growth as more and more logistics and petrochemical infrastructure projects are planned and under development.
"JSS China has positioned itself as the partner of choice for our clients in China and we have been successful together in this sizeable market," commented Raymond Cheng, head of port agency, China and Hong Kong of JSS.
