TIM Harrington has been appointed MOL (Canada) Inc's new vice president to head up the liner organisation and be responsible for sales, customer service, and operational activities to serve the Canadian market.
Mr Harrington will be stationed in Toronto, and will report directly to senior vice president of operations of MOL (America) Inc Richard Craig.
The announcement comes as MOL Line begins operating in Canada as MOL (Canada) from August 1.
"We are very pleased to have Tim to lead our new Canadian organisation," said MOL (America) CEO Tsuyoshi Yoshida. "His credentials and leadership will be a strong asset MOL and we expect that customers will be extremely satisfied with Tim's considerable industry knowledge and broad base of ability."
Mr Harrington has 25 years of shipping industry experience in sales, marketing, pricing and general management. He has held various management positions with increasing levels of responsibility with CAST, Sea-Land Service, Maersk Line and most recently at NYK.
In a related development, the liner agent agreement between MOL (America) Inc and Montship will expire on July 31. All other agent agreements between MOL's non-liner divisions and Montship will continue without interruption. The Japanese transportation group will maintain its four existing weekly liner services to and from Vancouver and its Asia-Halifax service which began on June 17.
