    Iranian state TV reports that the SKYLIGHT tanker was struck in the Strait of Hormuz after attempting to transit despite warnings, catching fire.

    Iranian state television reported that an oil tanker attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz, despite warnings, was targeted and that the ship caught fire and was on the verge of sinking. It had previously been announced that the strait was closed to transit.

    The vessel is reported to be the SKYLIGHT tanker, registered under the flag of Palau.

    Following Iran's announcement of the closure of transit routes in the Strait of Hormuz after US-Israeli attacks, it has been reported that an oil tanker attempting to transit despite warnings was targeted. Iranian state television conveyed that images of the struck tanker ablaze and on the brink of sinking were broadcast.

    The Iranian navy had previously announced that transits through the Strait of Hormuz were closed due to US-Israeli attacks.
