Iran retaliates against US strikes on five tankers, targeting two US ships and eight vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran reported that in response to the targeting of five Iranian tankers by the United States, two US ships, eight tankers, and ten different vessels were targeted in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran's semi-official Mehr News Agency, a written statement from the Public Relations Unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps indicated that retaliation was carried out against the US military's attacks on five Iranian tankers in the Persian Gulf.
The statement noted that two US ships and eight tankers in the region were targeted, resulting in significant damage to those assets. It also mentioned that, with the encouragement and support of the US military, ten vessels attempting to pass through the 'prohibited area' in the Strait of Hormuz were also targeted.
The statement emphasized that the control and surveillance of the Strait of Hormuz is in the hands of the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
