Hong Kong Maritime Week 2026, marking its 10th anniversary, focuses on resilience in global trade from 15 to 21 November.

Hong Kong Maritime Week (HKMW) returns from 15 to 21 November 2026 for its 10th anniversary edition. The week brings together policymakers, shipping leaders, cargo interests, and maritime professionals at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and venues across the city.

Since its first edition in 2016, HKMW has grown steadily in attendance, program depth, and international standing. It now ranks among the world's most trusted maritime congresses, providing timely market intelligence alongside high-value networking for the full maritime and logistics value chain.

The overarching theme for HKMW 2026 is 'Trusted Resilience Powering Global Maritime Trade.' This theme reflects the pressures now facing cargo owners and their logistics partners: fragmented trade flows, realigned supply chains, shifting freight costs, and the rapid pace of decarbonization and digitalization.

Against this backdrop, Hong Kong is reinforcing its role as a 'Safe Harbour' and 'Super-connector' under the 'One Country, Two Systems' framework. Hong Kong describes itself as the world's only bilingual English-Chinese common law jurisdiction. These institutional advantages help safeguard the free flow of capital, data, and talent, positioning the city as a stable, rules-based base for businesses seeking predictability amid geopolitical uncertainty.

As international decarbonization mandates tighten, Hong Kong is positioning itself as a premier green maritime fuel bunkering and trading hub. Central to this strategy is a planned network of Hong Kong-centric 'Green Energy Corridors.' These corridors will partner with production and consolidation bases in the Chinese Mainland to secure a steady supply of green fuel for bunkering and trading in Hong Kong.

Infrastructure is advancing in parallel. Dedicated fuel storage facilities and designated sea room for bunkering operations are being developed. Hong Kong is also working with the industry to build a market-driven, international, diverse, and open green fuel trading platform. Together, these steps aim to give carriers and the cargo owners who rely on them a dependable route to compliance with emerging emissions rules.

Hong Kong's standing as a global maritime arbitration hub rests on firm credentials. It is one of only four designated arbitration venues named in the BIMCO standard law and arbitration clause, alongside London, New York, and Singapore. It is also the leading arbitral seat for disputes related to the Chinese Mainland.

The Arrangement Concerning Mutual Assistance in Court-ordered Interim Measures in Aid of Arbitral Proceedings, agreed between the courts of the Chinese Mainland and the Hong Kong SAR, has further strengthened that position. It has contributed to a marked surge in maritime arbitration cases handled in Hong Kong.

The city's dispute resolution offering continues to expand. Within six months of the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed) being officially established in Hong Kong, a Hong Kong maritime lawyer helped resolve an international maritime dispute through IOMed-administered mediation. For cargo interests, faster and more predictable dispute resolution means less capital tied up and fewer prolonged disruptions.

As an international financial center and Asia's leading green finance hub, Hong Kong connects capital with shipowners and provides a diverse range of maritime finance products. Tax concessions introduced by the Hong Kong SAR Government have driven significant growth in the number of ship lessors operating in the city. Its deep capital markets also create room for specialized marine insurance and syndicated marine loans that support fleet upgrades and decarbonization.
