The HMM Rotterdam, one of the largest container ships, has made its inaugural call at Felixstowe, arriving from Singapore with a capacity of 23,820 TEU.
One of the world's largest container ships has docked at the Port of Felixstowe for the first time, reports the East Anglian Daily Times of Ipswich.
The HMM Rotterdam, measuring 400 metres and with a capacity of 23,820 TEU, arrived from Pasir Panjang in Singapore early Tuesday morning. The vessel, built in 2020 and sailing under the Panama flag, is among the largest container ships afloat.
Shipping photographer Jeff Welch captured the ship as it berthed, noting that he tracks vessel arrivals daily. He photographed the Rotterdam as the sun rose over the Suffolk port.
Felixstowe has recently welcomed other large vessels. On June 12, the YM Worthiness, a dual-fuel ship with a capacity of 15,500 TEU and a length of 365 metres, made its maiden European call at the port while sailing the FE3 Asia-Europe route.
