HHLA achieved revenue and profit growth in 2025 despite economic challenges, with a focus on sustainability and efficiency for 2026.

Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) reported revenue and operating profit growth in 2025 despite economic strain and geopolitical tensions, reported Delaware's DredgeWire.

Group revenue rose 9.9 per cent to EUR1.75 billion (US$2.04 billion), while operating profit climbed 19.5 per cent to EUR160.5 million. Net profit fell to EUR9.8 million due to tax-related one-off effects. Container throughput increased 5.4 per cent to 6.3 million TEU, and intermodal transport rose 10.9 per cent to two million TEU.

Chief Executive Officer Jeroen Eijsink stated that HHLA achieved operational growth despite challenges and will focus on reliability, efficiency, and sustainability in 2026. He highlighted automation as a driver of efficiency and sustainable processes.

In the Port Logistics subgroup, revenue rose 10.1 per cent to EUR1,718.8 million, and operating profit increased 22.8 per cent to EUR144.7 million. Container handling at Hamburg terminals grew 4.8 per cent to 6 million TEU, with gains in Far East, South America, and Africa trades offsetting declines in North America.

Intermodal transport rose 10.9 per cent to 2 million TEU, driven by rail growth of 11.2 per cent. Revenue in the segment grew 12 per cent to EUR797 million, with operating profit up 23.9 per cent to EUR103.7 million.

Real estate revenue was stable at EUR46.3 million, but operating profit fell 4.4 per cent to EUR15.4 million due to one-off expenses. HHLA will propose no dividend for 2025.

For 2026, HHLA expects strong growth in container throughput and transport, with group operating profit forecast to be between EUR175 million and EUR195 million. Capital expenditure is projected at EUR430 million to EUR480 million, mainly in Port Logistics.
