HAPAG-LLOYD has christened in Rotterdam a 15,000 TEU containership the Al Jmeliyah built in 2016 for the United Arab Shipping Company (UASC), which merged with Hapag-Lloyd in 2017. Manufactured by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea, the Al Jmeliyah is one of Hapag-Lloyd's 17 'LNG-ready' ships that are technically equipped to run on liquefied natural gas, reported Baird Maritime of Melbourne, Australia.

The box ship is deployed on the Far East (FE4) service that sails from Rotterdam to Hamburg, Antwerp, Southampton, Yantian, Shanghai, Busan and Ningbo before returning to Europe.
