    On Sep 11, 2018, at 12.40 p.m. the 'Viking Tialfi', being enroute from Beinheim to Basel, ran aground on the Rhine at Mannheim short before berthing in the Luitpold Port with 185 passengers on board. The accident happened during a turning manoever to get berthed with the bow downstream. The ship instead got stuck on a sand bar in pos. 49° 28.52' N 008° 27.61' E. Aronud midday the passengers were to be taken off by another passenger ship and taken to the shore at Mannheim. Then a tug should pull the ship off.
