German Fassmer’s Berne Yard held a naming ceremony for the new buoy laying vessel SCHILLIG.
Last week, in the presence of Parliamentary State Secretary Mr. Enak Ferlemann, German Fassmer’s Berne Yard held a naming ceremony for the new buoy laying vessel SCHILLIG. The vessel, built for the Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt Wilhelmshaven (Wilhelmshaven Waterways and Shipping), was named by Ms. Ulrike Wagner, wife of Wilhelmshaven Lord Mayor Andreas Wagner. As MaritimePropulsion reports, the main drive of MV SCHILLIG consists of two MAN engines type D2842 LE 419, with each delivering 375 kW at 1522 rpm, as well as two reduction gear boxes of type ZF 3000 combined with two Voith Schneider Propellers of type R16. The power supply comes from two gensets of MAN D2866 LXE type with 244 kW at 1500 rpm each. MV SCHILLIG is 43.8m long and has a draft of only 1.6m. This latest addition to the Wilhelmshaven Waterways and Shipping’s fleet will replace three old vessels and will be responsible for the distribution, collection and transportation of the seamarks in the tidal area of Jadebusen bay and the East Frisian Coast Line. The vessel can also be used for hydrographic duties, surveillance and hydraulic construction works.
