GAC Dubai Contract Logistics is using HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) to meet customers' needs for food storage, reports the American Journal of Transportation

GAC Dubai Contract Logistics is using HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) to meet customers' needs for food storage, reports the American Journal of Transportation. GAC Dubai's new 1,700-pallet facility in Jebel Ali is dedicated to goods that emit a strong scent which can affect other foods.

To avoid tainting, the room is air tight and maintained under negative pressure. The facility made its debut to provide storage for chewing gum and candy with a strong peppermint flavour for a long-standing client.

'After ISO 22000 accreditation in 2017, our investment underpins our commitment to high quality food handling operations,' said distribution centre manager Richard Potts.

GAC now has 40,000 pallet storage locations for food and beverage operations in the Jebel Ali Free Zone and at Dubai Industrial Park, plus a further 130,000 pallet storage locations dedicated to pharmaceutical, retail and Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) customers.

The company has recently been named the FMCG Supply Chain of the Year in the Logistics Middle East Awards, for the second consecutive year.
