    Ekol Maritime Training Center and AVS Global Ship Supply & Catering Hosted a Meaningful Event

    Ekol Maritime Training Center and AVS Global Ship Supply & Catering hosted a meaningful event that brought together personnel managers from Turkey’s leading maritime companies and Ekol students, the future seafarers. The event provided the students with the opportunity to meet experienced professionals in the industry and learn important insights about the sector directly.

    The Success Story of the Psychological Counseling Service During the event, a detailed presentation was given about Ekol’s "Psychological Support Project." Çetin Levent Toker, the Personnel Manager of Güngen Denizcilik—one of the companies benefiting from this service—shared his experiences. Toker explained in detail how the psychological counseling service provided by Ekol not only boosted the morale and motivation of ship personnel but also delivered cost advantages and savings in operational processes. In addition, Oruç Reis Güven, a Board Advisor at Güngen Denizcilik, highlighted how this service increased crew efficiency and positively impacted the industry. Güven emphasized that such projects are essential for supporting both the physical and mental well-being of ship personnel.

    Ekol’s Professional Crew Manning and Crew Agency Services Ekol Denizcilik announced that it has now started to offer professional crew manning and crew agency services. With this innovation, the goal is to provide shipowners with qualified seafarers. Diederik Legger, the Marlow Navigation Turkey Representative, delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of addressing the global demand for seafarers with proper and professional solutions. Serdar Öztuna, Deputy General Manager of Ekol Denizcilik, also presented on the steps and service processes that Ekol has implemented in this field.

    Ship Chefs and Galley Assistants Training: A New Beginning Ekol Denizcilik is now offering specialized training for chefs working on board ships. Recently, a training program for chefs employed on YMN Tanker vessels was successfully completed. Moreover, the chefs and galley assistants trained in Ekol’s modern kitchen will be employed on ships. This innovation is expected to help overcome operational challenges in ship galleys and elevate quality service standards.

    Presentations and Closing Remarks Throughout the event, presentations were delivered by Mutlu Arslan, Director of the Ekol Maritime Training Center; Murat Bingül, Human Resources Manager; Burcu Kula Akbaş, Specialist Clinical Psychologist; Sevda Bölükbaş Güler, AVS Global Business Development Manager; Serdar Öztuna, Deputy General Manager of Ekol Denizcilik; and Diederik Legger, Marlow Navigation Turkey Representative. The opening speech was delivered by Abdülvahit Şimşek, Chairman of the AVS Global Board of Directors, who emphasized the important role young seafarers will play in the future of the industry and encouraged them on their journey.

    At the end of the event, participants had the opportunity to tour the facilities of the Ekol Maritime Training Center and test the simulators. In the modern kitchen, a delightful dinner was served featuring delicious meals prepared by Chef Baturalp Aytul and Chef Orhan Baltalı under the leadership of Savaş Baştemur, Head Chef of AVS Catering. The event concluded with a group photo session, and meaningful gifts were presented to the participants by Abdülvahit Şimşek and Mutlu Arslan.
