On Sep 6, 2018, three crew members of the 'Bastø III' suffered fractures during an evacuation exercise. The staff had to get from the passenger deck and down to a liferaft via an evacuation stocking. Four of the men were injured, besides the fractures the fourth suffered a strong sprain. The 'Bastø III' was docked at the inner port of Horten during the exercise. The Norwegian Maritime Directorate was notified about the accident. Health personnel was called to treat the injured, and the exercise was stopped. The company has now launched an investigation into what happened to find out what went wrong in cooperation with the crew and the equipment supplier of the fleet and the evacuation system. The crew on board has followed all guidelines and procedures in connection with the accident. The ferries of Bastø Fosen are sailing between Moss in Østfold and Horten in Vestfold.
