Turkish travelers are booking winter cruises for 2026, favoring the Caribbean and Japan for warm climates and unique experiences.

Turkish travelers looking to experience a summer vacation in the middle of winter have turned their sights to the seas for the semester break. The cruise sector, which is making a swift entry into the 2026 tourism season, is facing a surge in reservations, especially during the school holiday period. According to Sea Genesis Group data, families are now opting for warm climates and the comfort of 'floating hotels' instead of snow vacations.

The Americas have become the top choice for those seeking a sunny escape during the cold winter days. Ahmet Yazıcı, Chairman of the Board of Sea Genesis Group, noted that there has been a 'demand explosion' for cruise tours departing from New York and Miami, stating, 'Especially the Caribbean route is almost fully booked by both families and those looking for a long-lasting adventure.'

The most striking trend of the semester period has been the desire to travel without visa barriers. Japan cruises departing from Singapore, which offer visa-free travel opportunities for Turkish citizens, have become a favorite for holidaymakers who do not want to deal with bureaucracy. This route stands out for its cultural richness and visa advantages.

On the other hand, Gulf tours departing from Dubai, known for their short flight distances and luxury shopping opportunities, are also described as the 'star route' of the semester. Yazıcı summarized the changes in the sector by stating, 'Cruising is no longer just a summer vacation. The opportunity to see multiple countries in one trip has spread this tourism model across all four seasons.'
