Five Azerbaijani crew members killed, three injured in drone strikes on cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, reports PortNews from Saint Petersburg.
Five Azerbaijani crew members were killed and three injured when two foreign cargo ships were hit by drones in the Taganrog Bay area of the Sea of Azov, reports Saint Petersburg's PortNews.
Aykhan Hajizada, head of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry press service, stated that 25 Azerbaijani citizens were serving on the two vessels, which were not owned by the Azerbaijani state.
The injured seafarers were taken to a hospital in Yeysk, in Russia's Krasnodar region. Embassy staff were dispatched to provide consular support and arrange repatriation.
Russia's Foreign Ministry identified the vessels as Natra and Zircon, stating they had been sailing from Turkey to Rostov-on-Don when they were attacked. The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation.
