On Sep 1, the fire aboard the 'El. Venizelos' was finally extinguished, however, smoke continued to eminate from inside the cardecks. The fire fighters found a shotgun with cartridges in an ELTA truck, but it seemd to have been a legal transfer of a customer in Crete. However, the competent authorities of the Piraeus Port Authority investigated whether the transfer of the particular weapon was lawful. Actually, six trucks, 29 lorries, 3 buses, 24 vehicles and 14 bikes have been unloaded. The ship transported 80 trucks and 152 vehicles. Once all the vehicles have been unloaded, the ship will be thoroughly investigated by the fire brigade and experts in order to ascertain the causes of the fire.
