Firefighting operatios aboard the 'El. Venizelos' were continued on Aug 31 with some smaller fires remaining on the car deck. After the water was pumped, the starboard list of the ship decreased to two degrees. Smoke development was considerably less than durnig the previous days. At the same time, many large vehicles have been removed, several of them heavily damaged. Responding ships on site were the 'Alexanter 5', 'Karapiperis New Gene', 'Megalochari VII', 'Pantanassa' and 'Pantokrator'.
