On Jan 7, 2018, the 'Tingvoll' suffered an engine failure in the Edøyfjord. The lifeboats 'Erik Bye' and 'Horn Flyer' were called to assist and towed the ferry to the quay in Edøya in Smøla. A the same time the lifeboat 'Bjarne Kyrkjebø' had to tow a floating dock with a house on it to a jetty in the Fana Fjord.
