    Ferry capsized in Mindelo

The "Soby" capsized at a roro berth in the port of Mindelo, São Vicente island, on March 24, 2017, with at least 125 tons of cargo still on board. The ship tilted to port side after one container started to slide and caused a general cargo shift. Only two containers had been unloaded when the disaster unfolded. The ship ended bottom up partially remaining above water at the terminal of the cabotage dock. A team of divers was sent down to assess the situation. The "Soby" was carrying containers and two cars, weighing 185 tons.
