The 'Sea Cargo Express', having sailed from Trondheim at 5.35 a.m., was blown aground in Røtet while entering Surnadal in the afternoon of June 28, 2018. The ferry got stuck in the clay bottom in pos. 62° 59.29' N 008° 38.99' E just off the port after having been caught by a powerful wind. Despite inert attempts to avoid the grounding, the crew failed to turn the ferry on time. Tugs were called from Kristiansund. There was no danger of a leakage. At 8 p.m. the lifeboat 'Erik Bye' arrived on site, but was waiting for the tide to rise.
