GLOBAL express transportation company, FedEx Express (FedEx), announced the launch of its Integrated Regional Customs Clearance (IRCC) service in 24 Chinese mainland cities which offers a more convenient, efficient and faster customs clearance process.

China's General Administration of Customs (GAC) piloted IRCC reforms to improve regional customs clearance process with success in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PRD) region.

"By proactively working with the China Customs, FedEx has become one of the first international express companies to introduce the IRCC model for the customers," the company said in a statement.

FedEx IRCC service replaces the traditional Bonded Transfer Model and formal inbound and outbound shipments can now be declared locally and released by the Customs authorities at the arrival/departure gateways/cities.

Said FedEx Express vice president, Eddy Chan: "The IRCC service simplifies the customs clearance process and reduces the required paperwork for inbound and outbound shipments, lowering the cost for labour, time and transportation. It will help strengthen the competitiveness of the customers by expediting the transportation of their shipments to reach the destination markets."

The transit time for selected cities can be reduced by one working day in Langfang, the Xi'an free trade zone, Tianjin, Zhengzhou, Changchun, Harbin, Dalian, Chongqing, Chengdu, Fuzhou, Changsha, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and the Suzhou Industry Park Comprehensive Bonded Zone.
