THE Port of Hamburg has achieved cargo volume growth of 2.7 per cent in the first half of 2012 to total 65.8 million tons. Container throughput was up 1.9 per cent year on year to 4.4 million TEU, considered modest growth resulting from the high number of empty containers. Exports accounted for 28.4 million tons of total cargo, up 6.4 per cent year on year.
