After the 'Harrier' has been in Farsund for 17 months now, approval has been granted for sailing to Turkey for recycling

After the 'Harrier' has been in Farsund for 17 months now, approval has been granted for sailing to Turkey for recycling. The Norsk Gjenvinning has been awarded assignments and documentation for the export of the ship. The company has signed a contract with the shipping company Julia Shipping for the export of the ship to Turkey, and now both Norwegian and Turkish licenses are in box. The ship is classified as waste, and waste exports are subject to a comprehensive regulatory framework, both nationally and internationally. The former 'Tide Carrier' had suffered engine damage in Jæren in February 2017 and was towed to Farsund. The ship was probably on its way to illegal scrapping in Pakistan when it failed. The ship's management company in Dubai, Nabeel Ship Management, has committed a violation fee of 500,000 Norwegian crowns for environmental and safety issues. The Julia Shipping and former owner Eide Marine Properties were fined for attempting illegal export of waste.
