THE Evergreen Seafarer Training Centre (ESTC) of Taiwan's Evergreen Marine Corp, has been certified by class society ClassNK to provide training courses in Bridge Resource Management (BRM), Electronic Chart Display Information Systems (ECDIS) and Engine Room Resource Management (ERM).

The official certificate was presented to Anchor Chang, president of Evergreen Marine Corp, by ClassNK executive vice president Koichi Fujiwara at a special ceremony held at the centre.

While ESTC has already attained the ISO9001:2008 standard, the new certification confirms that training programmes at the Centre meet the stringent requirements of ClassNK as well as those of an IMO model course and the STCW Code. In June 2001 ESTC became the first training centre in Taiwan to be awarded the ISO-9001:2000 certificate.

At present, the centre is one of the world's most sophisticated maritime training establishments and continues to provide training courses for Taiwanese and foreign seafarers. Since its inauguration in 1999 the centre in Taoyuan County, Taiwan has trained more than 30,000 seafarers.
