Evergreen has ordered 23 new container ships for $1.47 billion to enhance its fleet, including feeder and medium-sized vessels.
Taiwanese container giant Evergreen has placed an order for 23 new container ships, with a total value of approximately $1.47 billion.
According to the company's stock market announcement, Evergreen Marine has ordered 16 feeder ships with a capacity of about 3,100 TEU and 7 medium-sized container ships with a capacity of approximately 5,900 TEU to expand its fleet. These vessels will be constructed at CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding and Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding in China. The total value of the new orders has been announced to reach up to $1.47 billion.
The newbuilding program is considered part of Evergreen's strategy to strengthen its global container fleet. The company currently operates around 240 container ships and has already placed orders for more than 50 additional newbuilds for deliveries in the coming years.
