On Jan 13, 2018, at 11.43 a.m. the 'Patron', en route from Antwerp, to Santander with 5000 metric tonnes of fertiliser on board, suffered engine failure. The ship was anchored approximately 16 nautical miles southeast of Beachy Head, in the Dover Traffic Separation Scheme southwest-bound lane, in position lat 50 36 56.9N, long 000 37 15.5W. At 1.20 p.m. the repairs have been completed and the engine was being tested before the vessel resumed its voyage.
