The 'Spania', while en route from Yeisk to Turkey, suffered a main engine failure in the Kerchenskiy Strait on July 8, 2018, at noon. The vessel dropped its port side anchor in the canal in the area of buoys No.33 and 34, and the crew commenced engine repairs. At 12.50 p.m. the main engine was started and by 1.15 h p.m. the vessel got underway and continued its passage.
