DUBAI's global port operator DP World has signed an order for 33 Kalmar terminal tractors, three empty container handlers, three reachstackers and one forklift for its new deep-water terminal at Posorja, Ecuador

DUBAI's global port operator DP World has signed an order for 33 Kalmar terminal tractors, three empty container handlers, three reachstackers and one forklift for its new deep-water terminal at Posorja, Ecuador. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 Q4 order intake, with delivery scheduled to begin during Q2 of 2019.

The Posorja terminal is the first deep-water port in Ecuador and it is currently in its first phase of development. Once this phase is complete the terminal will feature a 480-metre berth and have an annual capacity of 750,000 TEU.

Said DP World's terminal manager Jorge Velasquez: 'DP World has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Kalmar over the years, so it was natural that we turned to them to help us put our plans into action at the Posorja terminal.'

Kalmar is part of Cargotec of Helsinki. Cargotec revenues in 2018 totalled EUR3.3 billion (US$3.7 billion) and it employs around 12,000 people.
