The dismantling of the 'Mestre Simao' which had run aground in the port of Madalena at Pico Island on Jan 6, was considered completed by the Captain of the Port on July 9. The works also involved the participation of companies specialized in the treatment and reuse of waste, with the bulk of the metallic material being sent to the Portuguese mainland in several containers for recycling.
