TAIWAN-based global freight and transportation specialist Dimerco says it is working closely with local strategic alliance partner PT Uniair Indotama Cargo to provide a wide range of logistics services in Indonesia, particularly from Batam, where the free trade zone (FTZ) is proving beneficial to Taiwan-based companies. ?Our customs clearance brokerage service offers a window for import and export products, connecting Indonesia with the rest of the world,?said Dimerco CEO Edward Lin.

As an FTZ, Batam Island is under the generalized system of preferences (GSP) and is exempt from import duties, sales tax, VAT, luxury goods tax, divergence and customs. It is also situated close to Singapore, which provides a convenient gateway to ship freight to surrounding countries without incurring taxes.
