Damen Shipyards Group has successfully delivered the Shoalbuster 3209 vessel, named Caspian Lotus, to long-time client Caspian Offshore Construction. The Caspian Lotus joins a robust fleet of over 50 vessels and barges and will begin operations supporting dredging projects in the Persian Gulf.
Designed for Versatility
The Caspian Lotus is equipped with advanced features to meet the demands of its operational environment. With a shallow draught of just 3.3 meters, 80m² of deck space, significant crane capacity, and powerful propulsion systems, it is ideally suited for challenging tasks in shallow waters.
A Long-Standing Partnership
Caspian Offshore Construction’s relationship with Damen dates back to 2006 when it acquired its first Damen vessel, the Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 1605. Since then, the company has expanded its fleet with several Damen vessels, including Multi Cats, Stan Tugs, and additional Shoalbusters, both newbuilds and second-hand. Over the past five years alone, the company has placed orders for multiple Damen vessels, reflecting its trust in the shipbuilder’s quality and reliability.
Speedy Delivery and Proven Reliability
Damen’s practice of building vessels in series for stock enables rapid delivery to clients. The Caspian Lotus exemplifies this efficiency, with the contract signed in August and the vessel delivered just months later. This business model ensures clients benefit from platforms that are both proven and dependable.
Expanding Operations in the Middle East
Having established itself in the Caspian Sea, Caspian Offshore Construction expanded to the Middle East three years ago. Today, half of the company’s Middle East fleet consists of Damen vessels, supporting its competitive edge in the region. General Manager Aleksey Chirkin highlighted the importance of Damen’s role in their regional success:
