Crew member drowned in water tank

A Philippino crew member died on March 17, 2017, on board the "Scelveringhe" in international waters off the Danish west coast. The 25-year-old man had fallen into a water-filled tank and drowned. The deceased sailor had worked in the hold, but when the other crew members could not find him, they alerted the Danish authorities at 6.35 p.m. The dredger headed immediately to the nearest port and arrived in the evening at Esbjerg, where it docked in the commercial port. The police was ready when the ship arrived. Divers went immediately on board the vessel and found the body of the sailor. In the morning of March 18 the police launched an investigation jointly with the maritime authorities and also representants from the Dutch authorities.
