COSCO SHIPPING Holdings enhances freight solutions in China, connecting inland manufacturers to global markets with new transport corridors.

As manufacturing activity across China's inland regions continues to expand, demand for reliable and efficient freight solutions among local enterprises has intensified. COSCO SHIPPING Holdings, drawing on its strategic presence across the Central China and Northeast China economic hinterlands, has established new multimodal transport corridors that connect interior production centres directly to global markets, enabling manufacturers in these regions to access international trade networks with greater speed and certainty.

*Wuhan-Qinzhou-North America: Central China Joins the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor*

COSCO SHIPPING Holdings' Wuhan Container Lines, operating in close coordination with CSP Wuhan Terminal, has successfully launched the inaugural rail-sea combined transport service on the Wuhan-Qinzhou-North America route, broadening the export pathways available to manufacturers across Central China.

Historically, export freight from the Central China region has depended predominantly on the Yangtze River sea-river intermodal corridor. To establish a complementary dual-corridor structure integrating river-sea and rail-sea transport - and to reduce enterprises' reliance on a single routing option - the commercial team conducted concentrated advance planning targeted at key North America-bound shippers with high-volume, resilience-oriented, and schedule-stable export requirements. Through multi-party coordination of rail capacity and ocean vessel space, the team engineered an end-to-end transport solution tailored specifically to the Wuhan-Qinzhou-North America routing via the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. The solution delivers a closed-loop service encompassing booking, port consolidation, customs clearance, and port transshipment, securing resource availability across every operational node. This initiative extends the reach of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor into the Central China hinterland and strengthens shippers' capacity to fulfil delivery commitments to overseas customers.

*Changchun-Dalian Rail-Sea Service: A New Export Pathway for Northeast China*

COSCO SHIPPING Holdings' subsidiary Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has launched a rail-sea intermodal service linking Changchun and Dalian, completing its inaugural run with the first consignment departing Changchun by rail, arriving at Dalian Port, and connecting onward by ocean freight to India.

Changchun, a key industrial base home to a dense concentration of manufacturing enterprises, generates substantial outbound trade demand. Historically, cargo from the region moving through Dalian Port has relied predominantly on road transport - a mode susceptible to disruption from winter ice and snow conditions, fuel price volatility, and capacity constraints, all of which place recurring pressure on supply chain stability. Road freight also carries a comparatively high carbon emissions profile, increasingly at odds with the green development objectives that enterprises are now required to meet.

In response, the operational team pre-positioned empty containers for inland repositioning, enabling enterprises to load cargo locally before dispatching directly to Dalian Port by rail, where shipments connect without interruption to the deep-sea ocean network for export to overseas markets. Relative to conventional road transport, the rail-sea model delivers superior resistance to operational disruption and greater schedule predictability. Rail transport also achieves a meaningful reduction in carbon emissions per unit of cargo, balancing efficiency with low-carbon performance. Through this service, manufacturing enterprises in the Northeast China hinterland gain a more reliable and sustainable route to global trade networks.
