    The "Fides" being loaded with more than 100 empty containers allided with the Burgum Bridge on the Princess Margriet Canal in the morning of Dec 11, 2011, due to an estimation error and a high water level.

When the ship passed under the bridge and got halfway through several containers hit and folded together. Police from nearby police station heard the crash and were soon sceneThe bridge could still be used. After the accident, it was attempeted to pull the vessel astern but soon a broken container got stuck under the bridge. The fire rescue of Burgum was alarmed about 2.30 p.m. but firefighters were unable to release the jammed containers. Later in the afternoon the scrapping company from Theo Reitsma was caled and the containers were cut free from the bridge. The ship at 6.10 p.m. could be pulled back.
