    Coast Guard medevacs injured crewmember from vessel 10 miles west of Coos Bay, Oregon

    COOS BAY, Ore. – The Coast Guard medically evacuated a crewmember aboard the cargo vessel Daio Papyrus 10 miles west of Coos Bay, Ore., Sunday. A Coast Guard Sector North Bend MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew hoisted the injured crewmember from the Panamanian flagged motor vessel after he reportedly suffered a severe laceration to his head. Sector North Bend received notification from the Daio Papyrus crew at 8:15 p.m., Saturday, however, due to the sea state and condition of the crewmember, it was determined the hoist would be performed at first light,Sunday morning. At 7:30 a.m., Sunday, the Dolphin aircrew safely transported the injured crewmember to Sector North Bend where he was placed in the care of local Emergency Medical Services and taken to the Bay Area Hospital.
