    INCREASES in bunker prices has induced French shipping giant CMA CGM to extend fuel surcharges after July 1 based on the prices in May and applied on all long-haul cargo worldwide. Surcharges will be US$55 and EUR45 (US$52.60) per dry TEU and $85 and EUR70 per reefer TEU, the Marseilles-based company announced.

    'These amounts will continue to be reevaluated on a monthly basis,' said the CMA CGM statement.

    CMA CGM, the world's third largest shipping company, operates 494 ships that call at 420 ports and carried 19 million TEU in 2017. With a presence in 160 countries through 755 agencies, the company employs 30,000 worldwide, including 2,400 in its head office.
