MARSEILLES shipping giant CMA CGM has increased its rate on shipments between ports from India to West Africa at US$150 per TEU from May 1.

MARSEILLES shipping giant CMA CGM has increased its rate on shipments between ports from India to West Africa at US$150 per TEU from May 1.

Danish giant Maersk Line will follow suit with an increase in mid-May at $100/TEU and $150/TEU continuing on from rate increases on these routes levied at the beginning of April.

Said a Maersk India statement: "While we are continuously endeavouring toward serving customers to the best of our capabilities, current rates are proving to be difficult to sustain, especially in the prevailing market scenario."
