AI adoption is accelerating, but operational maturity remains uneven. Most companies are layering intelligence onto architectures not designed for it, creating a ceiling on performance. Without harmonized data foundations, even advanced algorithms remain reactive rather than predictive.
"Most companies think they are ready for AI, but many are overestimating how far along they really are," said Allen Jacques, business development manager at OMP. He noted that firms still struggle with compliance and data constraints, undermining AI's effectiveness.
Fragmentation across planning, execution, and supplier layers erodes decision integrity. End-to-end visibility is increasingly seen as a prerequisite for scalable AI deployment, enabling compliance, auditability, and synchronization across networks.
Mr. Jacques said OMP's Unison Planning provides full visibility of inventory and operations, building a foundation for future AI initiatives. However, partner connections and data sources often remain weak links.
The aspiration is to shift from reactive control towers to predictive orchestration. This requires consolidating data flows into a consistent interpretative layer, allowing AI to anticipate disruption rather than simply respond.
Compliance pressures and rapid innovation cycles are reshaping investment priorities. Jacques stressed that poor data quality prevents success, adding that organizations must embrace integrated systems and AI to achieve predictability.
The differentiator is shifting from tool volume to strategic discipline. Jacques concluded that leadership now requires clarity of judgment, knowing when to adopt, pause, or simplify, and working directly with customers to uncover needs and co-develop solutions.
