Chinese tech firms DiDi Global and Meituan are locked in a legal dispute in Brazil, with both sides filing lawsuits over alleged unfair competition and trademark infringement, reports Reuters. DiDi's Brazilian subsidiary, 99, sued Meituan-owned Keeta in a Sao Paulo court on Monday, accusing the newcomer of copying its branding elements-including colors, graphics, and font-to boost its market entry.
The lawsuit claims Keeta's visual identity creates consumer confusion and attempts to 'hitch a ride' on 99's established success. The court filing requests Keeta be ordered to change its logo.
The legal action follows a separate lawsuit filed by Keeta days earlier, accusing 99Food of limiting restaurant partnerships to no more than two delivery platforms.
The clash highlights intensifying competition in Brazil's food delivery sector, as Chinese firms expand their global footprint and vie for dominance in Latin America's largest market.
